Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

There could be swelling in the posterior pharyngeal wall which is causing the discomfort. Please let him continue with the measures he has already started. Also, he will require an oral anti-inflammatory medicine such as diclofenac or ibuprofen and a povidone iodine throat spray.

With the above measures he will be alright.

Regards
