What Could Frequent Nose Bleeds With Large Blood Clots Indicate?

My 16 year old son occasionally has been getting nose bleeds that are very hard to stop. They last for about 20 to 30 minutes, but the strange thing is before it stops 2 or 3 very large blood clots will come out. They are at least 2 1/2 long. He has had these for several years but they seem to be happening a bit more frequently. Thank you for your time.

I have gone through your query. Your son's problem can be due to frequent nose pricking. You can watch him for such cause.But if such cause is absent then blood clotting disorders or pathology inside the nasal cavity should be ruled out. Blood clotting profile should be looked for. Consultation with ent specialist should be carried out also. Nasal speculum examination help to reveal any pathology. Endoscopic examination might be needed also.
