Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had chronic bronchitis along with a head full of crud off and on since Feb. I have taken 3 rounds of antibiotics along with prednisone, a shot of rocephin, using symbicort daily, albuterol as needed (only a handful of times)on my fourth box of mucinex 1200 mg of guifennisen. In May at my 3 visit to my primary care giver, she said she heard crackles in my left upper lobe. Pneumonia did NOT show up on the x ray but they treated me for it anyway. I went to the Dr again last week and he recommended a referral to an allergist. Today my son serviced our whole house AC unit and found half an inch of black mold in the air handler- 4 yr old unit and we live on the water. Could that be the culprit? Last week the nurse asked me if I thought there could be mold at my work.....it had not occurred to me at all and now here it is in my house!!! Your thoughts??
Yes, these molds are notorious in causing allergic bronchitis and also can damage lungs in long terms. Steroids are given to alleviate symptoms and you're taking the right medicines for symptomatic relief. Visit your doctor again and tell him/her to adjust your treatment regimen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
