What Could Have Caused Unusually Light Bleeding During Menstruation?

Hello.....When I usually get my period it s heavy...around the same time every month like clock work and last 5days. But this month it was very very light and it still lasted five days and it came on a little earlier than usual. I just want to know what could be the cause of this.
