What Could Huge Popping Followed By Symptoms Of Being Underwater In Ears Indicate?

Hi i had a grommit fitted a year and a half ago which caused tinnitus and a slight muffled ear whiched popped alot as well...but i thought it might stop when grommit fell out but its still in and a few days ago a huge pop sound happened and now i feel like my whole ear is under water and it creaks and pops when i push my ear in...and hear when im chewing inside my head almost...its driving me mad...tge docter says its got alot of earwax in it but can this really cause this?and if its wax why just a huge pop then it goes underwater symptom?thankyou
