Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Increased Blood Pressure But Decreased Heart Rate Indicate?
Hi, thanks for the reply. I am a 65 year old and my query concerns blood pressure - mine seem to vary anywhere between a high of 175/60 to a good reading of 125/71. My heart rate is consistently low, around 55 - 60 per min. These are " at rest " figures. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the query. Although BP variates according to time of the day, exercise, etc, resting blood pressures at rest and relaxed should be 140/90 or less for the majority of the readings. If the 175 is a random number, and not the norm, I would not worry but its frequent for you to see those numbers then hypertension is suspected.
Hope this helps wish you the best,
