What Could It Be If Tonsils Are Dark Purple With Spots On It And Pain Doesn't Subside After Medicine Is Taken?

Hi! I went to the doctor and was tested for strep. The test was negative. Doctor said tonsils were purple and gave me medicine comparable to Vicodin for pain. The medicine hasn't relieved the pain and the pain seems to get worse at night. Tonsils are now dark red, purple and even black in spots. What could this be?

Hello

It looks like that your tonsils have become infected, strep is just one cause for the infection and there maybe many more organisms responsible for it!
Please meet your doctor again as you should be started on antibiotics.
Meanwhile you can start gargling with warm salt water, that will give some relief!

Thanks
