What Could Itching Around The Eyes After Applying Certain Creams Indicate?
hi, i have just seen a skin doctor for my acne and dark circles.. he suggested me to take Vit A Tabs twice a day, Azit 250 twice a day , and a combination of melaglow+strea eye lightening cream for eyes. i had just started 2 days back only and suddenly i noticed that my eyes are itchy... so itched it and left with red patches around eyes... i have very bad dark circles which is even more prominent now... could that be due to the creams... i am still feeling very itchy around my eyes.... plz plz help as i am getting married in a month
Surely you have developed irritation to the undereye cream, specifically to strea eye lightening cream, which contains retinoids. Moreover the skin of the undereye area is very delicate and is therefore more prone to irritation and hence needs extra caution
Since retinoids have an inherent irritant property and therefore they should be used cautiously at the start of therapy. I usually as my patients to apply them for just 2 hours in the beginning and then gradually increase the time of application, so that the skin becomes used to.
I would suggest you to apply a moderately potent topical steroid e.g flutivate cream twice daily for the red itchy patches. Steroids are antiinflammatory and therefore would take care of it very well.
