Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Itchy Rashes On Forehead And Ears Of An Infant Indicate?
My son is six months old. At two months a rash started on his forehead and has not gone away. Doctors are telling me its due to hormones and it will go away in a couple weeks. They have been saying this for four months now. They said to put alot of hydrocordizone cream on it and it will go away. The cream works while using it, but as soon as you stop it comes right back. This rash is just on his forehead and goes to his left ear sometimes too. It itches him terribly and causes him to scratch himself all the time. He is also biracial and the hydrocordizone cream will start to mess with his skin pigmintation . Have you heard of anything like this? Can you make any suggestions? Ive tried coconut oil, head and shoulders shampoo.
There sounds immune deficiency related issue most likely as the possible fungal or bacterial infection is seemingly possible. Your pal requires an intensive work up with an expert immunologist as there can be low levels of B and or or T cells which are responsible for the fighting against possible bugs responsible for this. Long term use of steroid creams are associated with development of skin cells atrophy and hence not recommended at all.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
