What Could Itchy Sore Hives On Neck When Exposed To Soaps Indicate?

The skin on my neck breaks down if exposed to soaps too often. The symptoms appear to be itchy hives all over but the cortisone cream the doctor gave me only helps a little. Hives and itching decrease but the skin remains red and sore. Any suggestions? I slather on lots of cold cream to help.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that there has been an allergic reaction to any of the constituent of soap leading to formation of hives and itching and red and soreness are all due to inflammation caused due to allergy..
Along with application of cortisone cream you should also take antiallergics like Allegra 60mg twice daily for 3 days and a steroid like Medrol twice daily for 5 days..
Apply triple antibiotic ointment over it along with cortisone to prevent infection..
Use a herbal soap or a mild moisturising soap..
Cold compresses can help..

Hope this information helps..

Hi dear ,

Hiver are body's response to external stimuli which irritates the body . In case of hiver it is extremely important to known what exactly causes hives , which is soap in your case . Some ingredient of the soap is causing allergy to your body . I would suggest you to immediately stop using this soap , giver cold compresses to the affected area to prevent swelling and itching and take bendryl . Consult dermatologist for proper evaluation of the condition . Doctor may prescribe some medicated soap or herbal soap . Doctor may also give steroid therapy to treat hives .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
