What Could Left Ovary Showing Round, Thin Walled Cystic Structure Followed By Vaginal Bleeding After Menopause Mean?
I am 51 yr old post menopausal woman (for 3 years no period) and recently started vaginal bleeding. I had a transvaginal ultrasound and report says left ovary shows 3xx3x2.1cm round, thin walled cystic structure? Will this require any follow up treatment? There is no mass but can cyst be the cause of the bleeding and when will it stop?
The size of the cyst is not significant. However post menopausal bleeding needs evaluation. An endometrial biopsy will be needed. So get it done. Tumor markers like CA 125 may also be done to rule out a cancer in the cyst. Cancer is less likely as the cyst is small and also thin walled. A follow up ultrasound after 3 and 6 months will be needed to see if the cyst is growing.
Further treatment will depend upon the cause. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
