What Could Light Menstrual Bleeding With Pelvic Pain Suggest?

I have always had normal periods..always on time and normal flow. I just got my period a week early..it is very light and i have horrible pelvic pains..feels like a burning/stabbing on my right side.I also experiece pain during sex.What can this be? I had an ultrasound and papsmear..both came out negative
