What Could Low Ferritin Level Indicate? Why Stop Iron Infusions For This?

I have a ferratin level of 4. I have had 4 IV Iron Infusions. The last iron infusion made me deathly sick for four days. My NP has discontinued my Iron infusions by IV. I have seen a Cardiologist for my rapid heart rate of 107 and had a echo. My heart is fine. What would you think would cause my low ferratin level and why can I not take Iron Infusions?

Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinon you are suffering from iron deficiency anaemia. Most common cause is decrease oral intake of iron. Other causes are decreased absorption from gut, chronic blood loss either from gut or any internal bleeding. Injectable iron is coming in iron sucrose form and it is very much allergic in nature. Since you are saying that you are not well after injection it better to avoid this and start oral iron supplements. Search for other cause. And due to anemia only, you are having high heart rate. So correction of anemia is needed.
