What Could Lower Abdominal Cramps With Constipation Post An Ureteroscopy Suggest?

had kidney stone surgery three days ago (ureteroscopy). Still experiencing intense pain in the same kidney along with terrible lower stomach cramps. The doctor said he removed a stone that was two centimeters from the bladder. He sent me home with an antibiotic and Meloxicam. I am also experiencing constipation. Please advise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

Abdominal cramps with constipation after an ureteroscopy procedure could be related to some infection.

So,you should continue taking antibiotic ad meloxicam as a pain killer as prescribed by your doctor.

You may wait for 3 to 5 days to get rid off this infection.

Drink lots of fluid with fruit juices especially coconut water which will certainly help you.

Constipation could due to procedure related which should be subsided within 3 to 4 days.

However, you may take laxatives or purgatives (lactulose 3 TSF) at bed time to have effortless bowel evacuation.

If problem persists then contact your operating doctor.
