What Could Missed Periods With Negative Result In HPT Indicate?

My girl friend and I had unprotected sex 5 weeks ago. I never discharged in her or near area or even close. She had lactation and tender nipple and also vaginal discharge for one day but went away aND she has not experienced any other symptoms (nausea and fatiuge). She has missed her period and took a CVS pregnancy test 3 days after it was supposed to start and it came ip negative. I was wondering why she has missed her period and what are the chances of pregnancy.

Hi,

If test is negative after 3 days of expected date, pregnancy is unlikely. Anyhow, let's repeat it once more after 2-3 days of initial test, to be sure (to account for any irregularity of cycles). If this is also negative, pregnancy is ruled out.

A delayed period can also indicates a transient disturbance in hormonal equilibrium. If she is not getting period within 2 weeks of the expected date, kindly discuss with a gynecologist. In this case, we may have to do some blood tests, especially serum prolactin level, as she has lactation also.
