What Could Numb Feeling In Right Leg Indicate?

Hi i have a numb feeling in my right leg. It feels similar to when you go to the dentist and you have numbing. You can touch the area, and feel the sensation of the touch, but you really don't have any feeling. It is on the outer side of my right knee area -- probably 3-4 inches above and below my outer knee area.
