Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Home pregnancy tests read well when performed with a fresh early morning sample of urine 3-7 days after the missed period. Persistent spotting around the expected period can be due to implantation; else, hormone imbalance should be suspected. You can repeat the urine pregnancy test or go for the estimation of the serum beta-hCG titers. This is more sensitive and specific. A trans-vaginal sonogram will clarify the situation. Hope this helps.
