What Could Painful Abdomen With Under The Sternum Suggest?

I have have a pain in the upper abdomen or right under the sternum for almost 2 weeks now. It is the most painful when I lay down, especially on my side, lean over, and with physical activity. It is also often difficult to take deep breaths because of the pain. I have been to the doctor 3 times, have had 3 ekgs, a ct scan, and had my blood work done twice. No one seems to have an answer. They put me on a broth, juice, and crackers diet for 5 days and nothing changed. I didn t eat any solid food for 3 of those days. Can you help?

General Surgeon 's  Response
HI.
Thanks for your query.
The most probable causes for such a pain where EKGs, CT scan and blood are normal can be :
GERD
Esophagitis,
stomach ulcers
hiatus Hernia
I would advise you the additional following investigations that you must undergo ASAP under the guidance of a gastroenterologist:
Upper GI Endoscopy
X-ray or CT scan of the chest to rule out pathologies like Lung problem or pleural thickening casing such problems.
Once the proper diagnosis has been made it will be easy to get a proper treatment .
I find this answer helpful
