What Could Painful Cramps In Colon And Constipation Post Radiation Treatment?

Hello I had colon cancer 5 years ago went through the surgery a large portion of colon was removed and I went through a radiation due to recurrence, and the radiation treatment 3 and half years ago after. I had one more episode of come back but went through the surgery and got that tumor removed in the stomach wall last year in August. Ever since I am cancer free but recently I had a a radiation entities few moths ago but now I get very painful cramps in my colon suddenly but I notice it happens one day of constipation. Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be related to irritable bowel syndrome, due to radiation. I recommend using lactulose to help against constipation and a diet rich in fibers. If this situation persists, performing a colonoscopy will be necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
