What Could Pimple Like Bump On Base Of Neck Oozing Smelly Liquid Indicate?

Have a weird question...I had a small pimple type bump on base of neck. I squeezed it ..not knowing it wasn t just a pimple. I know it was not a boil cause I have had one before. Some awful awful smelling stuff came out. I left it alone after that but my side of neck slightly aches. Not sure if it s muscle thing or maybe I spread some type infection. But this bump always comes back. I am currently on oral capsules of vancomycin...tapered dose. for CDIFF .

Hi,

You should get a surgical evaluation for confirming nature of the lesion and it's extension work up. Wound discharge should be sent for microscopy and culture and sensitivity tests to isolate the causative agent responsible and antibiotics it is sensitive to and antibiotics choice should be based accordingly for detailed and permanent solution bit if it doesn't resolve may need incision and drainage procedure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
