What Could Popping Noise And Pain In Groin Area Indicate?

I have a popping noise in groin area, and pain. I cannot carry heavy loads like a 50lb bad of dog food without it causing intense pain in the area. I cannot lift my leg up when laying on my back but 5 or inches, whereas my left leg I can. If someone were to bump my from behind and cause me to catch my step forward, the pain it causes can sometimes take my breath away. This hip has been popped out and after a month I went to a chiropracter whom popped it back in and I visited him for 4 weeks twice a week after that. I have spent many hours in the saddle, and was once drug by a mule with this leg being the one hung up in the saddle. I also had injured my left knee, finally got a cortisone shop after dealing with it for a couple of years, and then realized that I was walking really crooked from compensating the knee.

Hello,

You are suffering from pain in the groin area, you are unable to carry heavy loads due to intense pain in the area. You are also unable to lift leg up when laying down. Your symptoms are indicative of inguinal hernia that is getting triggered by muscle strain or sprain. Do not try to forcefully lift your legs, be gentle with yourself. Avoid lifting heavy weight or doing heavy work. Get clinically examined by a Urologist, to confirm hernia and to rule out hydrocele, varicocele, testicular torsion, spermatocele, epididymitis, etc.

Treatment will depend on the cause, you will be treated accordingly. For relieve, you can take pain relieving medicines like Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS when required. Stay at rest. Popping or "snapping" sensation/noise that you have/ hear is probably coming from your hip. Snapping hip is usually painless and harmless, although the sensation can be annoying.

Evaluation is needed to make diagnosis for the hip snapping / popping noise. You are suggested to get clinically assessed by an orthopedist or a physical therapist. It can be a sign of developing arthritis, tendon snapping over the joint, or a torn cartilage inside of the joint, or some other problem. Get X-ray and if required blood works and MRI done, get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
