What Could Recurring Abscesses In Throat And Foot With Pink Eye Indicate?

Hi, I ve been having quite a few medical issues lately and I m just curious if all these things could be related? In early July I had an abscess in the back of my throat on my right tonsil and I burst so I went to the hospital (since there was a lot of blood and it was very late) and they gave me a z-pack (antibiotics) just to make sure that no more abscesses popped up. It healed up fine, I felt better just an hour after it burst. There was no fever or other symptoms during this abscess. Then about a week and a half ago I started pink eye in my right eye and got antibiotic drops for it from the Rite Aid Ready Clinic. It didn t improve and got worse so I went to America s best since I had the free appointment there and she just gave me more drops. Then I went to a professional ophthalmologist and he gave me a steroid drop with an anti-inflammatory because my cornea actually swelled from the pink eye and was very painful. He basically just said it was a seriously bad case of pink eye and it has gotten much better, today is my second day of the steroid and I already feel a difference. This morning however I discovered a hard bump on my left foot near the pinky toe metatarsal. It doesn t hurt unless you push on it very hard, it doesn t seem to move, but I m not sure how to properly check that, it hurt slightly when I tried to. I wasn t sure if it could be a ganglian cyst or if it could be a reoccurrence of the abscess I had in the beginning of July. I know that abscesses can come back but its been about a month and I had taken the steroids. Just for some background medical history, I have had SVT since I was about six or seven and was diagnosed when I was about eight. I have been on 25mg of Atenlol ever since, there have been no issues. I do wear contacts, but the opthalmologist said he didn t think the pink eye had anything at all to do with the pink eye. I am and eighteen-year-old female, soon to be nineteen, and I do have an irregular menstural cycle. The average is about every forty days but it can go longer, and the older I get the lighter it has gotten but other than that I have had good feminine health, no signs of STD s. I will be seeing a gynecologist for this soon. I did have an ulcer in my eye when I was about fourteen, it cleared and there was no scarring. I had two concussions two years ago. There is a history of kidney disease in my family, but my family doctor has not seen need to test me yet. I do not smoke, or drink, or have unprotected sex. I give blood, O-, but have not in a few months. There is also history of lung cancer, heart disease, glaucoma, and catarax. One person in my family, my great-grandfather, had diabetes that he developed late in life and he was over-weight. My other great-grandfather had a mild thyroid problem that I m not too familiar with.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the throat abscess is related to gram positive infection of throat by atmospheric pollen or else.

* The abscess foot is bacterial infection of skin of foot and the pink eye indicates viral lesion as episcleritis most likely.

* The common for all occurence is either

- low immunity
- uncontrolled blood sugar.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
