What Could Recurring Chest And Abdominal Pain With Tingling Body In An Anorexic Girl Mean?

Hi I m 18 female, 5 9 and 144 pounds and I was diagnosed with severe anorexia in February. Recently I have been having chest pains and abdominal pain right below my lower ribs and I was wondering what could possibly be wrong. Over the past month I ve also had swollen ankles several times, had sharp pains in my left back and shoulder, and right up under my left breast. Just last night and today while I was napping before I felt super pressure in my chest and I don t know how to describe it other than it felt like someone was like grabbing a lump inside my chest. I don t know what it could possibly be but I m fearful since I recently relapsed that it could be something serious but when I went in last tested positive for a UTI and they said that could contribute to the chest pain but I m on the antibiotic and it still is getting worse. In the past week or so different parts of my body have started going numb at different times and like tingling, for example my fingers or my shins went numb yesterday for a while. What could this be and should I worry?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Anorexic patients experience chest pain as a common symptoms. In many patients the cause is unknown. Most patients can experience coronary artery disease, arrhythmia. QT prolongation. This could be the cause of chest pain.

Nutritional deficiency associated with the drug can also cause your above mentioned symptoms.I would suggest you to take an Ecg/Echo to assess your cardiac function.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
