What Could Recurring Dark, Scaly Patches On The Back Of Neck Indicate?

my son is having dark scaly patches on the back of his neck. A dermatologist prescribed dermovate cream and ointment in the first instance. she then changed to advantan cream. the treatment was beneficial, but, two weeks after the stoppage of treatment the dark patches appeared again. Your advice , please.

Hi,
I advise you to have the patches checked for fungal infection. A KOH mount of the scales will determine this. The treatment varies with the result of the test.
