What Could Recurring Dizziness And Nausea At Night Indicate?

For a little over a week now, I ve experienced dizziness and nausea late at night (around 2 or 3 am), seemingly out of nowhere, and I can t think of anything that could be causing this. I m not taking any new medications and I m not eating anything strange. What could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to:
- Positional vertigo being caused in sleeping posture with particular head position. Try changing sleeping posture, avoiding bending of neck.
- It can be due to acid reflux in the stomach. Try to have ice cold milk with sugar (if not diabetic).
- Thirdly, it can be a heart problem. If it's accompanied by chest compression and breathlessness, go for stress test if advised by your treating doctor.

A full physical check up by a physician is advised for more personalized advise.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
