What Could Recurring Loud Pounding In Ears While On Insulin Indicate?

My wife has had a loud pounding in her ears at various times over the past several months. T he pounding usually starts in the early evening and goes on for several hours until bed time. She is a diabetic and takes oral medication as well as insulin. At 4pm she takes medications and vitamins. The pounding usually starts around 6 to 7pm. The meds that she takes at 4pm are Norvasc-10mg, potassium/ magnesium- 99/500mg, vitamin D3-2000 mg, probinicid/colchicine- .5mg, multi vitamin-Centrum Silver. Noises aggravate the pounding when she is having these episodes. Your input would be appreciated on your thoughts about these symptoms and whether the combination of drugs may cause this.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared,as your wife is diabetic and having high blood pressures so the combination of drugs is appropriate and should continue it. However, the pounding sound in ears is called tinnitus and it is common in some females and for that she needs to consult ENT surgeon and get her audiography done. Then he would be able to recommend proper treatment. Till then continue same treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
