What Could Recurring Severe Pain In Lower Abdomen Indicate?

I woke up with severe pain in my lower right abdomen, it comes and goes, hurts like it did when I had appendicitis, I have been running a fever off and on, have nausea, a headache with blurred vision at times, I don't have my appendix and had a total hysterectomy 13 years ago. What could this be?

Hello welcome to HCM and thanks for asking a query

I can understand your concern. You have severe pain in right lower abdomen and its is occurring in episodes. Most likely its colicky pain. The pain is associated with nausea, fever, headache, blurred vision etc symptoms. You have underwent appendectomy and hysterectomy so causes related to appendix and reproductive tract have been ruled out. Now as the pain is associated with nausea, fever, headache etc symptoms so most likely the pain is occurring due to some infection or inflammation. Intestinal infection might present with similar symptoms. Even if you are not having any loose stools still intestinal infection can be a possibility.

I'd advise you to visit a good doctor for help. Get your blood work up, stool examination and USG abdomen done to find out any specific cause. Antibiotics like Ofloxacin, Metronidazole, Ciprofloxacin, Ornidazole etc combinations can help to treat the infection. Visit a doctor for evaluation.

Thanks, Hope this helps, Take care
