Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Red Discoloration From Shin To Ankles With Deforming Shape Of Foot Indicate?
I have reddening of my skin from my shin to my ankles(both legs), but only my left lower leg and foot swells and I have recently developed a sore of some sort. At first I thought it was a blood blister. When my leg swells my skin has a leathery appearance. I also had an injury to my ankle or the bone meeting the ankle or both 2 years ago. I went to the local clinic and the Dr. said I didn t need and x-ray and gave me an ace bandage. Something was way wrong because now the shape of my leg is deforming as is my foot.
* As per my clinical experience, the red discoloration of skin from shin to ankles may be in concern with post inflammatory changes following cellulitis via bacterial infection with staph aueus or other bugs.
* The tissue compression to extensive level distorting fascia and sheaths underlying can make shape of foot deformed to various extent and suggest severity of the underlying problem.
* If you can provide me a photo pic of the leg with skin changes areas, it would be best to sort out on clinical grounds about various possibilities.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
