What Could Red, Painful, Tender To Touch Pimple Like Sore Under The Nipple Of Breast Be?

Hello, Just 2 hours ago I have noticed a pimple like sore under the nipple of my left breast. The tip is red and painful to touch but not very painful overall. Otherwise the breast looks normal. No tenderness as well. The right breast looks and feel normal as well. I feel fairly healthy overall. I am worried what this might be. My mammograms are normal every year. I am 42 years old. Thanks

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It seems to be folliculitis which is inflammation of the hair follicle.
I would recommend you to apply topical antibiotic like neosporin ointment on the affected area and take oral antibiotic like tablet cephalexin. This should improve it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist
