What Could Severe Itching In Body With Red Bumps Around Private Parts Suggest?
My daughter is 19 and shortly after going back to campus she began itching. She said it felt like it was inside her skin....she also has red/scarlike bumps around her sports bra, panties and on her trunk.. we thought bed bugs, no. Allergy to soaps, no. Benedryl, creams do not help. She had strep throat just after her arrival back to the university and was on antibiotics. I am thinking yeast infection...she is miserable and has a dermatologist appoint Wednesday
Hello and welcome to HCM, Severe itching all over the body and development of red colored bumps over pressure points is suggestive of scabies infestation. Scabies is a contagious disease so a history of going for camp also suggests possibility of contracting the infection from others in the camp. Avoid coming in contact with her clothings. Her bed sheets should also be kept separate and treated with anti-scabies medication. You need to consult a dermatologist urgently for clinical assessment and further management.
Thanks and take care DR Shailja Puri
