What Could Skipping Of Heart Beat Post Quitting Smoking Suggest?

I quit smoking about a week ago, And last night I was laying in bed and my whole body started tingling. And it felt like my heart stopped for about 5 or 6 seconds. Then my heart jumped and started beating very fast.... Am I ok? Does this have anything to do with me quiting ssmoking?

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to anxiety, caused by smoking withdrawal symptoms.

But, this situation is temporary and you should try to be more patient.

If the problem persists, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests:

- a cardiac ultrasound
- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring to investigate for possible cardiac arrhythmia
- complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid dysfunction
- blood electrolytes for possible electrolyte imbalance.
