What Could Sore Throat With Bloody Mucus Suggest?

the back of my throat was sore for about 2 days, it felt like there was something stuck in the back of my throat like at the roof of my mouth, i tryed so hard to bring it down or out but i couldnt, but then i got in the shower and tried and eventually it came out, it was a big ball of bloody mucus mainly blood and it was thick!!! What could it be?

Hi,

Sore throat causes one to try to remove the sputum or phlegm and this can increase swelling at the back of throat in such a way that a small blood vessel can rupture and cause the clot that gave you the sensation of something at the back of throat. I would advise you the following:
* Povidone iodine gargles
* Consult an ENT surgeon for endoscopy of the area to see for any swelling, ruptured blood vessel.
Further treatment will be as per the findings.
