Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query. As per your query sore tongue, lumps and inflamed throat is due to viral infection . Usually the symptoms go away in few days by its own. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day. Maintain proper oral hygiene. For pain and inflammation take asprin or ibuprofen(if not allergic). Give warm compresses externally. Mean while you can use topical anesthetic like lignocaine and topical analgesic like choline salicylate. Consult ENT specialist (ear, nose, throat) for proper evaluation of condition and rule out causes like strep throat or acidic reflux. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Doctor may order throat swab test or blood test to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe steroid medicine, anti viral (acyclovir) or antibiotics depending upon diagnosis. Avoid hot and spicy food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
