What Could Split Opening On The Crease Behind The Ear Indicate?

On the back of my sons ear in the crease it has like split open from the centre to the bottom of the ear lobe. It does not appear to be weeping or painful. There is also another one appearing just above it. That one is just a red line on the back of his ear. Can you help me to find out what it may be an what I can use to treat it. Hi,

It is common for children to have tears or oozing behind pinna. This a form dermatitis, seen more commonly in children with atopy or seborrhoea.

If no pain, itching or oozing, just keeping the area clean and dry is all that is needed. If not healing in 3-5 days, applying an antibiotic cream like fusidic acid will be helpful. Lesions associated with itching or oozing will need steroid creams also.

I think it can be eczema of the ear. Using hydrocortisone cream would help it heal.
