What Could Sudden Onset Of Habit Of Biting The Insides Of Mouth And Tongue Indicate?

I have begun unintentionally biting the insides of my mouth and tounge lately. I never know when it will happen. I also do this in my sleep witch wakes me directly up because of the pain. A few days ago I bit my tounge so hard I drew blood. What could possibly be causing this and how can I treat it?

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. There is nothing to worry much. This is a common problem that can occur with boredom, stress, anxiety, or simply out of habit. From the given descriptions, it is obvious that there could not be any other reason than habitual. To break a habit, you should start a new habit with the same organ or line. I suggest you to start chewing gum which will help you keep your mouth healthy and get rid of the biting habit.
