Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Sudden Slurred Speech With Fluid Retention In Body Indicate?
In February, my friend s speech was slurred. She could no longer go to work. She had a hard time walking. She had been in bed for 2 months. Doctors can t isolate the problem. She s now in the hospital for 2 weeks on a ventilator. Air has seeped into the upper cavity of her body and she is retaining fluid. They had her on a paralitical medication and deep sedatives. They say it could be pneumonia, ARDS, auto immune problems and Cytomegalivirus. Nothing is working and she is progressively getting worse. Her lungs are weakening and they have little hope or recovery.
Yes, they are right. It can be pneumonia. They will do tests. You can be happy if you do breathing exercise, by smiling more, playing good music near her and sharing your memories. ICU care will be the same in almost all hospitals.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
