What Could Swollen & Itchy Ear Lobe & Lymph Node Suggest?
Hi. I am a 28 year old female from North Carolina. I am suffering from what I think may be a bug bite on my ear lobe. Both ear lobes are extremely red, swollen, and itchy. I have swollen lymph nodes at the base of skull and itching there, and down the back and sides of my neck. Could this be a reaction to a bite or is it normal to itch and be swollen when simply fighting another type of infection?
It is suggestive of localized infection. Based on the history your seem to be suffering from lymphadenitis (inflamed posterior auricular lymph nodes) apparently caused by the inset bite on your ear lobe or pinna. You are advised to see your doctor for proper clinical assessment and also to rule out other causes of lymphadenitis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
