What Could Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Ear And Neck With Severe Pain Suggest?

I have a swollen knot inside my ear in the front of it, I ll venture to say that s it s my lymph node. I also have some enlarged ones in my neck. I have pain in the spine of the back of my neck and occasionally I have sharp pains near the swollen lymph node by my ear. My doctor has told me numerous times that it s not cancer but I know that this has to be something because this is not normal. I m considering getting a second opinion, I just wanted to hear some of your thoughts.

Hematologist 's  Response
Hello,

You may have lymphadenopathy. It can be due to reactive hyperplasia, tuberculosis, lymphoma, or metastatic carcinoma. You should take a course of antibiotic. If it doesn't respond to treatment, then you should go for fine needle aspiration cytology of lymph node biopsy. It will give you an exact diagnosis. Then you should take treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hardik Sanghvi
