What Could Swollen Spots On Rib Suggest?

For the last few days I noticed there is a small spot that is swollen under my left rib. I have moved my hand down and felt that there is also something else that is swollen. Could it possibly be my spleen. I have noticed when I lay upon my left side that is hurts. When I touch the spot it is hard and it also hurts.
