What Could The Cyst On The Back Of Neck Be Indicative Of?

I have a bump which has been there for years on the back of my neck. A doctor previously told me it was a cyst which he cut out (ten years ago) but some of it was left behind. In the last few weeks it has started weeping clear stuff which smells badly.

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Most likely it is a Sebaceous Cyst. The reason for its recurrence is that some part of the wall may have been left behind.

A sebaceous cyst should be completely removed along with the cyst wall or else it will recur.

I would suggest that you take another appointment with your surgeon for cyst removal.

Since it is weeping, therefore, I would suggest you take a course of an oral antibiotic for a week, to take care of any possible secondary bacterial infection before surgical removal.
