What Could The Lump On Groin Be?

Hello... My husband has a lump on his right groin area that developed about 4 months ago when he refrained himself from passing gas... As he held the gas in that lump appeared and as soon as he passed the gas it decreased in size... He pressed/massaged it down right after passing the held in gas and heard a popping sound... He lifts weight and is a soccer player with a healthy weight and lifestyle... The lump has not gotten any bigger theses past 4 months nor has he had any complications at all... Can it still be a hernia???

Hi,
From history it seems that he might be having reducible direct inguinal hernia.
Due to lifting heavy weight and having more intra abdominal pressure might give lax abdominal muscles giving rise hernia.
Consult surgeon and get examined.
Avoid constipation and cough reflex.
Avoid lifting heavy weight.
Ok and take care.
