What Could The Swollen Neck Lymph Node With Clusters Be?

I just went in for a lymph node biopsy friday. They were going to take out one large lymph node that had been swollen for almost a year. When they got in there they saw that my lymph nodes were attached to a nerve and they ended up taking out alot of lymph nodes and sending them off for biopsy. Is this normal. These are the nodes in the back of the neck.
