What Could Throbbing Pain In Foot Suggest?

I had a fifth metatarsal fracture a week from now. I went for an xray and have been advised to wear a boot cast. I keep my foot elevated and whenever i bring it down to walk i have a throbbing burning sensation, can you advise what is it about? Any idea for how long i'll be under treatment and when i'll be able to wear my high heels for work.
