Hi, my father in law had a a 4th heart stent inserted on Friday, Jan. 24th. On Monday, Jan. 27th his leg was swollen. His cardiologist said it is normal for some people to have some swelling. However, today, Jan. 29th, the same cardiologist recommended he goes to the emergency room for possible blood clot. I am confused about wether my father in law s condition is critical or not at this point. I feel the doctor has been too slow in this after surgery care due to his condition. Having said that, I would like to know if I need to take time off from work or if this is considered an outpatient service. I live 5 1/2 hours away. -By the way, the 4th stent was put in because his heart was a bit enlarge leaking fluid to one of his lungs. Although he felt great and no pain, he only experienced wheezing while working out and that s what brought him to see a doctor.
