What Cuses Chronic Pain And Itching In The Throat?

I have a chronic sore throat that hurts all the time for the past 4 weeks. It feels scratchy, itchy and just plain miserable. I do not think I have fever. I do not have a runny nose or anything of that nature. I have recently been taking Humira. That is the only think I can think that has changed. Could it be thrush?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Humira is not usually a cause of sore throat but it can affect the immune system as you know, which can affect other conditions or infections.

Thrush is usually restricted to the mouth but in some cases it can spread to involve the throat, particularly if the immune system is impaired or not working as it should.

Other possibilities are post nasal drip , reflux or mass or lesion in the throat (this is not common)
It would be best to be seen by your doctor for an assessment, an ENT doctor may be the best option.

He or she would have in office equipment to take a good look into the mouth and throat.

I hope this helps
