What Dies Black Colour Of Blood In Periods Mean?

I am 22 and I noticed the blood was black, it smelled real bad. When I wipe down there black appearing blood gets all over my hands, everywhere. The clot is sticky, just like a baby when they have the 1st poop, and its hard to clean them up. This is the 1st time I have ever seen this. And I am not pregnant. I dids however had a large cyst on my left ovary, could it be that?
