You need to be cool and calm during your pregnancy. Tests can be done as advised by your Obstetrician which include Haemoglobin, Blood cell count, HIV, HBsAg, VDRL, Blood group. Also urine tests to make sure no urinary infection is there. Avoid sexual intercourse first 6 weeks and last 6 weeks of pregnancy to reduce chances of miscarriage and preterm labour respectively. Follow up with regular Antenatal checkups as your Doctor advises, get regular ultrasound scans for the pregnancy. If you have any history of twinning, pre-term labour, spontaneous abortions in the family it would be wise to tell your Doctor. You can take Folic acid tablets 0.5mg in the morning everyday till end of first trimester or 12 weeks. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables to prevent constipation, improve nutritional status and good vitamin levels. Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol or taking any kind of drugs unless recommended by your Doctor and should be safe in pregnancy. You may take Iron and Calcium tablets in 2nd Trimester of Pregnancy as recommended by your Doctor. Do brisk walking exercise everyday to keep fit. Avoid going near sources of X-rays or CT scan rooms. Avoid any sort of radiation exposure. Follow up with your Obstetrician for best results and care in pregnancy. GOOD LUCK !!!!
