What Do Blood Blister Like Skin Lesion On Forearm Indicate?

My husband had a skin lesion appear on his forearm last Sunday. It is irregular in shape and he does not feel any itching sensation or pain. When we saw it we thought it was a blood blister. It is over 1/4 inch in size. Yesterday another appeared nearby on the same arm. And this morning another at the back of his arm. He travels all during the week for business. I called into our doctor and they have no hours today...waiting for a callback. What do we do?

Hi,

It would be more useful if you can send a picture. What does the blister does contain- clear fluid or cloudy / yellowish? I guess he is not febrile. This can be caused by an insect bite reaction, contact dermatitis (this usually won't cause large blisters) or skin infection like impetigo. Insect bite will respond to antihistamine and steroid cream and impetigo needs antibiotics. Your doctor will guide.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
