What Do Chronic Pain And Tight Sensation In The Shoulders Indicate?

i have chronic pain and tightness in my shoulders and across my upper back and neck. I also have extreme tightness in my fore arms and muscles around my elbows. My wife and have moved to a farm lifestyle, lots of physical labor, lifting, etc. This has been a number of months, I assumed I would be getting stronger during this time, but seem to be just the opposite. I do have osteoarthritis in both of my thumbs, and may be compensating weirdly.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Persistent pain and tightness around shoulders can be due to Frozen shoulder or capsulitis of shoulder. X-ray and MRI evaluation of the shoulder joint is required to come to a diagnosis. Please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider for necessary evaluation. Meanwhile, you can take Advil for pain.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi
