What Do Cysts With No Calcification Found In Ultrasound Of Neck Mean?

Hi, I had a ultra sound of my neck and they found a left and right complex cysts with no calcification (they used a different term). One is 15mmx9mm. They did not say anything about the lymph nodes. Since then I have a lymph node about 2 below my right ear on that larger muscle. It is about the size of the end of my index finger. They told me to come back in 6 months for another ultra sound. This makes me nervous because the way I discovered all this was from a difficulty swallowing and it came on in about 3 days. Thank you for your time. Mark

Hi
I would rather suggest to go for more detailed examination. Ultrasound may not be so helpful in differentiating cysts, lymph node, lipoma, etc. It would be better to have FNAC or biopsy of the cystic mass present in the neck. It would be helpful in dignosing the underlying cause. If it is cyst, it may be removed by undergoing minor surgical procedure. Certainly, biospy is a better option to diagnose the tissue of origin and type of mass.
You should contact a surgeon to plan biopsy or FNAC.
